My Wedding dress..

ok no I'm not getting married lol...and even if and when I do, it will definitely be a Vegas wedding with Elvis and a strip club involved (long story short, I just want to have a crap load of fun with some very close friends and my future hubby..:-)..But If I was that girl, you know the one who wants the big wedding, fabulous dress and an 8 foot tall cake...well, this would be my dress. We just got it in my store yesterday and let me tell you, pictures does not do this dress ANY justice. It's absolutely breathtaking in person. Whenever any one walks in the store, it stops them dead in their tracks. Its a vintage piece (non designer), size 8 and we are selling it for only $299!!!!! This dress is really gonna make someone very, very happy :-)

Brunching it up for Chuck's Bday

Last Saturday was my good friend/business partner Chuck Holliday's Birthday. To celebrate, we had a Sunday brunch at Bazar Bistro in Union Square (it was 10 of us in total). I had a really nice time and got to hang out with a few friends that I haven't seen in a while. The food was great, the decor was nice and the company I was with was amazing! My only complaint? no dessert menu (but I did go next door for some out of the world Creme Brulee) and the service was a little slow. But to be fair, I think it might of been the owner serving us because he told us from the beginning that he wasn't a waiter. Anyways, I would definitely go back there and can't wait until we all do brunch again :-)

Outfit of the Day 4/19/2011

This was my outfit today...my little sister Olivia (who is off this week from school because of Spring Break...she's 10 btw) took a million pictures today with my camera so I decided to use a few of them for this post. This outfit was super comfy. I'm not a real big fan of khaki pants but these jeans felt more like chinos because of the soft cotton. My favorite item though...the earrings! These fabulous vintage clip-ons were a gift given to me by my employee Kat. I love them soooo much and they add just the right amount of contrast to spice this outfit up.

Shirt: Club Monaco
Undershirt: The Gap
Pants: Worn Jeans
Shoes: Style&Co.
Belt and Jewelry: Vintage
Sunglasses: Rainbow shop

I'm Going to Spain!!!

Barcelona to be exact!!! I'm super excited because me and a group of girlfriends are going in October. They travel all the time, Morocco, Costa Rica, etc and I finally decided to go on a trip with them. I use to travel all the time but ever since I opened my store and got too comfy with the boyfriend (ladies, you know how that goes lol) I don't want to go anywhere anymore. However, after watching Eat, Pray, Love..I sat down and reassessed what I want out of life. I decided that traveling more was on top of the list. I've always wanted to see the world, experience different cultures and see all the things that I studied in school first hand (I was a dual major in Art History and History). Well, when I heard that the girls next trip was to Barcelona and the fact that I've never been to Europe but always wanted to, I jumped at the chance. So yes, I will be going for 6 days/5nights and staying at the fabulous Murmuri Barcelona Hotel. I will definitely take tons of pics and I also want to videotape the trip...and of course I will post all that stuff here...Soooooo excited and I can't wait!!!!!

Moca Restaurant in Harlem

I went to brunch this past Sunday with some friends at the Moca Lounge in Harlem and had a nice time. This was my first time there and I thought overall it was a cool little place. It's a very small lounge that's supposedly a really hotspot in Harlem. I was told that on any given night that the place is so packed that people are shoulder to shoulder and that you can hardly move. Oh heck no! Thank God we went for brunch because I want no part of that lol. I hate over crowded places...especially clubs, so I think we went at the perfect time. The food was decent (had a Shrimp Cesear Wrap w/fries) and the Mimosas were average but because the company I was with and the conversations we were having were great, that made up for it. Would I go back again? ummm, not sure. I'm not really a Harlem girl and since I didn't think this place was anything out of the ordinary, I doubt it. But who know?

My first NYX haul..Glitter cream palette, eyeshadow base and lipsticks (reviews and tips!!)

On Saturday, I stopped by my local Harmon store (I LOVE THAT PLACE) and decided to pick up a few items from NYX makeup. I've been dying to see what all the fuss was about over this line because all over the internet, i.e blogs, youtube, makeup sites, etc..people are always going crazy over it. I decided to try out the Glitter Cream Palette, 2 lipstick from the black label line and the eyeshadow base...Here are my opinions:

The Glitter Cream Palette 09 in Sweet Chocolate Browns

Description: NYX Glitter Cream Palette is a Multipurpose gel-based glitter combination in a pallet. NYX Glitter Cream Palette comes with 5 shades of glitter, 2 applicators with 3 sponge tips and 1 brush tip. Apply to eyes, lips and face - anywhere you want that sparkling effect!

Price I paid: $6

My Take: I actually really like this product. I've been looking for some new glitter to add to my kit and the really cool thing about these is the fact that there is no fall out at all because it is gel based. Basically, all you have to do is swipe it on and it stays in place. This item have been getting some bad reviews because some people find it difficult to use, creases up on them or just doesn't show up. Well, here is a little tip/trick to make this item work for you.

1)First, make sure that you apply it over eyeshadow...preferably one that matches the color of the glitter.
2)Then, only use the sponge applicator that it comes with. If you try and use a regular makeup brush, its not gonna work very well.
3)Make sure that you press the sponge applicator in the glitter and swirl it around. Doing this will ensure that it picks up enough glitter on the sponge.
4)Apply it on the lid only and apply about 2-3 coats.
5)To finish it off, make sure to dab some translucent powder over the glitter. One coat will be sufficent. Doing this will make the glitter stay in place and not crease up.

Like I said I really like this item and you can't beat it for the price!

NYX Eyeshadow base in White

Description: To get the maximum brilliant color of eye shadow on your eye, an eye primer is a must! Apply eye shadow base to eyelids, then apply NYX's high-pigmented eye shadows and see the colors pop with vibrant and sparkling luster. Eye shadow base grabs and firmly holds finely milled powder so the color in the pot is what ends up on your eye - without a pinch lost.

Price I paid: $7

My Take: I don't like this at all. This base comes in 3 colors...white, pearl white and skin tone. I decided to get the white because "Apply before eye shadows for 100x's vivid color". I know some people swear by this but honestly, it doesn't do anything different than my other eyeshadow bases and actually, it doesn't even last all day. I wore it yesterday and by the end of the day, my shadow was creased. I will not be purchasing this again.

NYX Black Label Lipstick in Citrine (103) and Dusty Rose (108)

Description: NYX's elite new line. The Black Label. This lipstick is super creamy, velvety, silky smoothand moisturizing. After you use it, your lips will be begging for more!

Price I paid: $7.50

My Take: I think they are cute. Nothing special. I bought the Dusty Rose, which is a medium pink, really for myself because I live for pink lipstick! I bought the Citrine, an orange color, for my kit.

Dusty Rose

Citrine

So overall I am not at all excited about NYX...I might give a few of their other products a try in the future but we'll see.
