My best friend Christine and I went to a bar-b-que a few weeks back (Its been a while since I last updated this blog so i'm trying to get everything on lol) and I got to dress her for the first time!! We hit up Joyce Leslie (one of my favorite stores ever!) and I picked out her outfit from head to toe...including the accessories. I love styling for my clients but its even more fun to dress a friend. Good timeszzzzz

Crown Brush Haul

So I recently lost my brush roll with all my Mac brushes in it. I think I left it on the train when I was coming back from the city but honestly I don't remember. When I go to a shoot to do makeup, I usually bring a ton of stuff and it never fails that I lose something. Well because its impossible to be a makeup artist without brushes (lol), I decided to pick some up but I needed them fast and they had to be inexpensive. I do love Mac brushes but honestly I was not trying to drop a few hundred dollars on some more brushes...no ma'am! After checking out youtube and google, I found out about Crown Brushes (www.crownbrush.com) and decided to try them out because their brushes are super cheap but have some great reviews. Honestly, I was a little leery because I HATE cheap brushes. After a few uses or washes they start coming apart or the hairs are left on client's face...no bueno! Well, I ordered 11 brushes and the total came up to $39.81(that's including shipping). It took about a week to get here and so far I am pleasantly surprised. I can honestly say that these brushes are equivalent to the Mac brushes that I lost. They are sturdy and well made and I will definitely be ordering some more soon. Coastal Scents Makeup Haul

Since my store was closed this past Tuesday and Wednesday, I was stuck in my house for those 2 days bored out of my mind. I spent the majority of the time doing things around the house and surfing the net. While online, I came across the website www.coastalscents.com and decided to try out a few of their palettes. I've been interested in this company for a while because a few of my makeup artist friends use their products and after researching them further, I found out that they have some great reviews among their customers. Well, I decided to get 4 palettes: The 88 color eyeshadow palette, the 28 piece eyeshadow neutral palette, the 10 concealer shades camouflage palette and the 10 blush shades palette. I placed the order on Wednesday and the total came up to only $70 and that included FREE SHIPPING!!! I received my package yesterday, which was Saturday so it only took 3 days for me to receive my items using regular ground shipping...not bad! When I opened the package, I was very happy. All the colors are vibrant and pigmented and they even sent me a little gift...a mini trial size shadow and 3 small brushes. Honestly I'm not going to use the gifts, I'm just going to give it to my little sister Olivia (she's 10) but I thought it was still nice of them to send it to me.

So overall I am very happy with Coastal Scents and I will be shopping with them again...

Pros: Fast shipping, inexpensive palettes, good pigments
Cons: 88 palettes colors are a little smaller than I expected but for $18.95 I can't complain

So my boutique opened about a month and a half ago (June 1st) and I absolutely love it! Its been alot of work and very stressful at times but it has been so worth it. I absolutely love everything about it...the location (Glen Cove is Awesome!), my customers, my employees Renee and Kat, and especially the merchandise!!!! I've always wanted a boutique, but I never thought that I would have one so young and I never thought that I would have a consignment store. After researching for several months and being offered an opportunity that I just could not pass up, I decided just to do it and I am so glad I did. Here are a few pics of my store :-)

Oh, I forgot ton mention...the really cool thing about my store is that we get tons (I mean tons) of new items EVERYDAY! For instance today we got in a pair of Louis Vuitton sunglasses, a few dresses, bags and a couple of antique items for the home. Also, most of the items that we get in are either brand new with the tags still on them or gently used and have only been worn a few times. So Ive been extremely busy lately doing a variety of things...i. e. photoshoots, makeup applications, decorating my new apartment, etc. But the thing that's been keepng me the busiest is my brand new store that I'm opening in Glen Cove, Long Island. The name is Samantha's Consignment Boutique and it is fabulous, if I do say so myself, lol.

My boutique will be a place where my customers can buy the most beautiful high-end fashion items ever made. My staff are experts who are curators of high-end consignment designer clothes, jewelry and accessories that will provide intelligent and objective fashion advice to ensure that our customers buy only what is right for her and her desired look.

At any one time, my boutique will be stocked with authenticated pieces from St.John, Dior, Chanel, D&G, Hermés, Bvlgari, Prada, Gucci, Armani, Cartier, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Chloé, Van Cleef and Arpel, YSL, Galiano as well as many other coveted labels found in exclusive brand name stores like Barney's and Neiman Marcus.

I am so super excited I can't even tell you! This has been a dream for me for such a long time and I can't believe that in about 2 weeks, this dream will be a reality! Yesterday, Alicia Keys debut her jewelry line (inconjucntion with jewelry designer Gisèle Theriault) The Barber's Daughter at a pop up shop at Collette Blanchard Gallery at 26 Clinton Street here in NYC. The collection of sterling silver and gemstone pieces features poetry and prayers of Masaru Emoto, the author of “The Hidden Messages in Water” inscribed on them. “The inspiration of The Barber’s Daughters is to provide tools for people to connect to their intangible beauty and strength,” said Theriault. The line of necklaces retail from $85 to $2,500 and is also sold on thebarbersdaughters.com.

“I fell in love with the individuality of the pieces, but more than that, the words that were written on them really resonated with the songwriter in me,” said Keys. “I knew at that moment, for the first time, that through a whole other medium I would be able to spread inspiration and that’s what got me started.”
