Saturday's work outfit

I love everything Asian...the food, the culture and especially the clothing (so much so that one of my majors in college was Art History with a concentration in Asian Art..the other was History btw). So of course when we received this beautiful Asian inspired top in my store, I had to buy it! Its super cute, comfy and reminds me of a kimono. My favorite thing about it is the color and big batwing sleeves. I paired it with a pair of jeggings and my favorite suede pumps from Mixx and threw on some super big earrings and that was that!

New photo shoot with Hector from Hydra Multimedia

About 3 weeks ago, I shot a quick photoshoot with my long time friend and photographer Hector from Hydra Multimedia. Even though I'm "semi retired", I wanted a few updated shots wearing a few things from my store and of course Hec delivered! Here are the 2 first images from that shoot:

Vintage top with a jean from Express

Top is by Metamorphosis and the skirt is by St. John's...earrings are vintage Chanel...

There are a few more and as soon as I get them, I will post them here :-)

Typical work clothes

This is how I typically look when I'm at my store. I wore this outfit this past Friday, November 12th. The jeans are from a company called Icon apparel and both my black shirt and sweater are from Bebe. I got this really cool necklace from Joyce Leslie back in September. I really like it alot and wear it often because its a single necklace but it has several chains on it and each are a tad bit different. Love it! And now to the shoes. These are call Karmondy and I bought them from Shoedazzel. When I first got them I was extremely happy but not anymore. After the first wear, they started to disintergrate! First, they had little tassels on the zippers and those both fell off without me noticing. Then slowly, the stones on the front started falling off too. If you look closely at the pic you can see that. No bueno!!! Because I've worn it several times before it became noticibly that they were falling apart, I couldn't return it. This is really a shame but I really, really liked them. Oh well! I still pull them out once in a while tho just for the hell of it but I will be looking for a replacement for them very soon.

How I lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks without a crazy diet or going to the gym!

I've been meaning to write this post since the summer but I just never got around to it. I went on a diet back in June for eight weeks and dropped 20 pounds. Because a lady never tells her age (or weight) I am not going to say what I use to weigh or what I weigh now (LOL...I know, I know). I decided to put myself on a diet because one saturday morning I stepped on the scale and it said a crazy ass number and I freaked out...bad! Now, I have to say that I am honestly blessed in the fact that I am 5'8 and carry my weight very well...I look as if I'm 15-20 pounds smaller than I truly am. I usually wear a size 7/8 comfortably but over the past few months my clothing started fitting a little too sexy if you know what I mean! I started going to the gym, hired an expensive trainer that I was paying $400 a month to work out with 3xs a week and after 8 months and not losing any weight (I was toned tho) I quit! Well, after that faithful day I decided that I had to do something and it had to be done NOW! I put myself on a home made diet and after 8 weeks, I passed my "fantasy number" and dropped from (im assuming a 9/10) to a size 6. Here's how I did it:

The first thing I did was eliminated all juices and beverages from my diet. I only drank water. Thats it! I would usually drink at least 2 snapples a day and when you add that up, it would be over 500 calories a day just from that. If I started craving orange juice or fruit juice, I would just eat an orange or a fruit instead. I also started eating breakfast even though most times I really didn't want to because I have no appetite in the morning. I would then have a yogurt then lunch then a yogurt again a few hours later. If I got hungry anytime in between meals, I would just snack on fruits until I was full. I then had dinner and for dessert, I would have one of those 100 calories snack packs. That was it! That was how I ate 95% of the time I was on my diet. There were times that I would eat out with friends of course and still had wine and drinks (oh and even champagne and cake since I was dieting through my bday).

The thing that I learned that worked for me was that I could never deprived myself..I just had to change my food portion. I ate alot of those lean cuisine meals until I realized what the right portion was. After that, it was honestly very easy. After getting off my diet, my weight has been flutuating within 5 pounds of my goal weight. I am back to drinking juices and eating "regularly" but now I go to the gym again and workout on the treadmill for about 30 minutes or take a class here or there just to help maintain my weight. This is how I did it and it may not work for everyone but I am the worst eater (I got a mean sweet tooth) and I hate the gym so I figured if it worked for me, you should give it a try too if you are looking to lose a few pounds fast and safe :-)

xoxo
Sam
