Hair Envy - Keri Hilson

Honestly, I'm not a fan of Ms. Hilson...no hate, I just personally don't like any of her songs, her overall fashion sense or this new "over-sexed" image that she's trying to put out there. However, the girl is beyond beautiful to me and I for one, can't get enough of her hair styles. When I was contemplating wearing out my real for the first time in years, Ms. Hilson was my inspiration because our hair lengths are basically the same. Well, I should say the length that she wears her hair most of the time is sort of like mine (and yes, I do know that she wears mostly weaves and wigs to achieve these styles). Here are a few of my favorites :-)

The Natural Me...no makeup and no weave tracks

So this is how I look without makeup and weaveless, lol..I was at my store a couple of days ago and honestly didn't feel like "putting my face on" and decided to document the occasion. Honestly, even though I am a makeup junkie, I don't wear makeup all the time. If I'm running a quick errand or just hanging with friends, 9 out of 10 times my face is bareless. Oh and for the past few months, I've been wearing my "real" hair. I decided to do it beause I knew that my hair needed a break and was only planning on leaving it out for about 2 weeks but loved it so much I decided to keep it this way (for now at least). Its been about 3 months since my tracks were removed and you know what? I feel free. Don't get me wrong, when I have a photo shoot or modeling event, I do pull out the phony pony, lace wigs and clip in pieces just to maintain a sexier image but on a daily...this is me.

*sidenote: I will never forget the first time my boyfriend saw me weaveless...his first response was "You got hair!!!" LMAO...I was like WTH...just because I wear weaves Im suppose to be bald? LOL...even to this day, I catch him rubbing his hands in my hair just to be sure...hilarious!!!

Oh and isn't my earrings to die for? I bought these clip on from my store Samantha's Consignment :-D

First shoot of 2011

Ever since I opened my boutique, Samantha's Consignment in Glen Cove, I've taken a semi hiatus from modeling. I've been modeling for 6 years now full time and I have never once taken a break. The reason why I say "semi hiatus" is because I was still doing a few catalog shoots here and there. Well, I decided that since my store is running smoothly now that I can get officially return to the modeling "game". Here is the first shoot I did about 2 weeks ago with Hector from Hydra Multimedia..I wanted to start doing something a little bit different. Yes, I am a catalog and beauty model but I want to explore the pin up/fetish side of this industry just to spice up my port a little bit. I have several more shoots lined up so stay tuned for more updated :-)

RIP Marc Whitaker :-(

Wow, so many things have happened since my last post. December 1st, 2010 was a difficult day for me. On that day, I got into a terrible car crash on my way to jury duty (of all places smh) and totaled my car right in front of the court house. The accident was really bad but thank God that I was ok except for a few bumps, bruises and burns due to the airbag. While I was in the hospital getting checked out and awaiting my tenanus shot (which hurt like hell btw)...I got news that my very good friend and photographer Marc Whitaker aka Cat 6, passed away. I was devastated. The whole situation felt surreal. I had just called him the day before because I realized that I had not spoken to him in about a week and we usually spoke every other day.

I had sense something wasn't right because even though his voicemail was full, Marc always called me back immediately whenever he missed my calls. But nevertheless I knew he would call me back whenever he was free because we both worked with Denovo Magazine and we were in the planning stages for a few more shoots (one involving my car ironically). I was wrong. About a week and a half after finding out that he had passed, I attended his memorial service in Brooklyn and it was great to see so many people who cared about Marc, showing up. It didn't feel like a depressing funeral, which I was expecting, but a celebration of his life. I was glad to have attended and I was/am honored to have met and worked with him. He was a great photographer and a great friend and he will be missed...Here are a few more of Marc's pics...
